EFFECT OF SMOKING ON LIPID PROFILE AMONG ADULT SMOKERS IN OWERRI, NIGERIA

Abstract
The serum lipid profile among adult smokers aged between 45 to 55 years were evaluated. Sixty adult smokers were selected along with 40 normal controls. The serum levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL cholesterol (6.56±0.81mmol/l, 2.06±0.33mmol/l, and 5.24±0.60mmol/l) in smokers were significantly increased when compared with the control.
